Our Vision

Imagine a world where men are walking with Christ, where marriages are strengthened, where  families are strengthened, where churches are strengthened, where communities  are strengthened and the world is changed thru changed men. John Donne, a renaissance writer, said “no man is an island”.  His entire quote brought forth the idea that we are not isolated from one another but that mankind is interconnected.  The apostle Paul reminds us in 1Cor. 12:21 how all of us in the church
need each other.  Prov. 18:24 gives the following insight. “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”  That’s the kind of friendship men need as they face the challenges of today’s world.    As men meet together, we can strengthen one another. Eccl 4:12b---“a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Our Purpose Statement

We are committed to: encouraging men in their spiritual walk, glorifying God in the home and workplace & advancing the gospel in the community around us.”

We are always looking for men to add to our Men’s Core Group, which meets to plan men’s ministry.   Present members of our core group are:  Jerry Ripo, Steve Cooper, Chris Dunaway, Herb Fanz, Wayne Pinion, John Connor & Tom McGee

MEN IN THE WORD

bibleThis section of our web page will vary from time to time.  How God is working in the lives of men, devotional studies, and testimonies will be highlighted in “Men in the Word”

jsw_rewired1“Rewired” for Biblical Manhood was the theme of this past week-end men’s retreat held at Covenant Life.

We had a great picnic dinner, provided by the Disaster Relief Team. We enjoyed live country and bluegrass music provided by a music team from Covenant Life.

It was a refreshing time of fellowship as we got to know some Covenant Life men, as jsw_rewired3well as our own attendees.

Daryl Davis and Dave Sturkey led the teaching for the weekend. The Man in the Mirror materials guided us thru 4 sessions.

jsw_rewired71. From Performance to Grace----Christianity is not about behavior modification, but heart transformation.

2. From Idols to “Spirit and Truth”---The system that most men are seeking is one that will make them happy.  Dave Sturkey pointed out that true happiness is a by-product of a relationship with Jesus Christ.

jsw_rewired133. From Self-Sufficiency to Faith---It should not be our goal to be more religious, but to have the right relationship with God.  Col. 3:1,2 “Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right  hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.”

4. Rewired for Biblical Manhood---to know the Scriptures, Daryl reminded us to spend time in daily devotions and Bible study.  We also need times of corporate study and regular worship.  As men in the Word, we need friends to walk with and brothers to jsw_rewired12challenge us.

Men's Discipleship Groups are forming

Men’s discipleship groups are being formed very soon. Many signed up after the retreat to be part of a small group 6-week study of the book of Galatians. There will be several small groups. If you didn’t get signed up or did not make the retreat, you can still get into a small group study. Contact Tom McGee at 924-4618 or send me an e-mail at Imagebytom@verizon.net
