Small Groups Shepherding Groups are the core ministry of Our Church. Shepherding Groups come in three types: There are Home Fellowship Groups, Discipleship Groups, and Special Needs Groups. Each of these three groups has the same ultimate purpose, to help people get to know others like themselves and to grow spiritually together. As people make real friendships and interact together under God's Word, lives are transformed and ministry is organized. The difference in the three types of shepherding groups involves their focus and format. The purpose remains the same.
Home Fellowship Groups are made up of 8-12 people, either singles or couples, who meet twice monthly in people's homes for friendship building, support, Bible study, and prayer. Many people find the best friends they've ever had in these groups. They also find a safe place to ask the real questions of their hearts and to find honest answers from others on their spiritual pilgrimage. These groups are designed to be non-threatening. If a person is new to the Christian faith or investigating Christianity, these groups allow them to get invovled without having to find Bible verses or pray out loud in group situations. These groups are a fun and easy way to learn how to study the Bible and learn to love Jesus! To find a list of our current Home Fellowship Groups, please go here Home Fellowships
Discipleship Groups are smaller than Home Fellowship Groups, allowing for more discussion and interaction. They are less social, yet provide an opportunity for accountability and encouragement to grow spiritually in very specific ways. Discipleship groups are also generally made up of the same gender, while most Home Fellowship groups are made up of different genders. Discipleship groups offer a more intense "Bible study" curriculum. To find a discpleship group meeting over lunch, breakfast, or evening, near you, please see our "adult discipleship" page from the connecting page! Special Needs Groups Special needs groups gather to learn about and handle a specific issue at Cornerstone. We offer special Biblical Parenting Groups, groups to learn Christian Financial Management Principles, Recovering from Sexual Abuse Groups, and will offer in the future Divorce Recovery Groups. These groups organize as the need becomes apparent at Cornerstone. To get one of these groups going, let us know of your interest by calling 907-3939.
